Ears to You (Blog Hop)

October is breast cancer awareness month.

So when I saw Amy, from Copper Diem was putting together a blog hop for

 the organization "Ears to You" 

(who's mission is to provide earrings to lift the spirits of women undergoing chemotherapy for cancer)

quarter of a century

25 years ago we had our one and only child, Anthony.

I remember telling Kurt (months before he was born) I wanted to get the newspaper of the day he was born.
Thinking he would like to know the happenings on the day he was born.

Anthony was born Oct. 30 (11:12pm)

Being the great husband/father Kurt is, he went out in the wee hours looking for the Oct. 30th  newspapers (4 different ones, including the town he was born in) before they were replaced.

Anthony never knew we had them, we gave them to him this weekend when we celebrated his 25th birthday. It was fun seeing how things were 25 years ago. Anthony was surprised the cost of a new car back then, the good old days! Ha

T-Rex

I love the beach.
I dream of having a little beach house of our own one day.

A place we can escape to from time to time...

Where we can take long walks, hear the sea lions at night, a place we can curl up with a good book...

But living in California, this is usually just a dream.

In some CA seaside towns, a teeny tiny little fixer-up usually start in the high $400,000 range, if you can find one that cheap. And when you do, they need A LOT OF WORK! Which means a ton of money.

So when I found a little vintage (1958) Rex Mobile Home a couple months ago, I knew it was for me!

I fondly call it my "T-Rex"

OK, it needs a lot of work! A LOT! But, it has a tiny pink oven! 

Which does not work anymore, but it is super cute! 

and the location is perfect...right a cross from the beach...perfect!

 

So over the next few months, we'll be gutting, building, fixing, redesigning, painting, laying new floors and adding a new deck. My T-Rex is getting a make-over...I'm so excited!

If you look very close you'll find the little fairies amongst them.

Comes with a tiny lock and key clasp so she can find her way home...

Doing the salsa

 

It's that time..

Time when my friends and neighbors hide when they see me coming with bags of tomatoes.

This year, I only planted 4 bushes (last year I planted 10)

But with our warm Summers here, my tomatoes grow like crazy!

Last year I made tomato sauce with the extra surplus.

So this year I decided to make salsa. So tasty with home grown tomatoes...

Note to self: Even though the prep time says 20 minutes, it takes much longer to peel the tomatoes and roast the green chiles.

Remember the Snowmen Ornament Kits I had last year?

I even added a few Scary Cats to the mix (love their surprised look) hehe

I'm in the process of cleaning the studio.
And my bead bowl (with extra beads) is getting pretty full.
Some are extras, some are wonky and some are just ugly! Ha

Happy 100th

Mini Me

 

I have been wanting one of these for a long time...

Eight weeks ago I bit the bullet and ordered one just the way I wanted it. As Kurt was looking over my list of "must haves" he says "don't you want a turbo?" which was not on my list. It just did not seem that important to me. But, he talked me into it. I'm SO GLAD HE DID...it's so F.U.N. zipping around town.

I'm going to drive it for a couple weeks before I hand it over to Kurt to customize it for me.

Plus, it's the perfect size for Molly!

Maybe I'll even learn how to do this, ha!

Here comes the Sun(flowers)

My Sunflowers are in full bloom. Such happy flowers don't you think?

I've had a few requests for my Dia de Muerto pieces that I shared a couple weeks ago...
So next week I'll try and have those photographed, so I can take a few orders.

Weekend plans? Trying to stay cool...
We may even break a new record high (from 1898) which I'm hoping we don't!

Molly's favorite cookies (dog treats) in the whole world are Peanut Butter Chewy Louie..

I'm not sure if it's the cookie part or the peanut butter, but she absolutely LOVES them!

So when I found these "ice cream" filled Louie's, I knew I had to get them for her.

We haven't broke into the bag yet, but maybe today...
