Design of the Month

~Spring Bloom Earrings~ (March)

Spring arrives this month and I can't wait!
This month I'm making pretty lavender with pink accents lampwork flower earrings.
Swarovski crystals and sterling silver findings.

I'm still working on my new and improved website, I've had to learn EVERYTHING all over and I do mean everything. I'm hoping it will be done very soon...
If you would like to order a pair of this month's "Design of the Month" you can do so on my website on the Design of the Month page or right here. Thanks

3 in 1

When Mary's magazine Home Companion went out of business last year, my subscription was transferred over to Martha. Which was a good thing...I like "Living" too.

But you could imagine my surprise when I went to the mail box yesterday and there was 3 months worth of magazines all delivered on the same day! One of which I had already bought (Jan. Cupcake issue)

Quarter of the year's subscription all in one day!

Me

aka...Coraline's "other" mother! Ha

I've been working on March's Design of the Month...which I'll post a photo of this Friday.

aka...Button Eyes or maybe Cute as a Button! ok, kind of creepy...but funny! The perfect puppy for Coraline, don't you think?

I spent most of yesterday working on my website. I want to try out the shopping carts to see if everything is working, so I'm offering Basil the Bunny Pendant with free shipping. Here's a link to my site, look on the jewelry page SOLD...THANKS!

And the Oscars' go to....

Wow! What a night for Slumdog! They cleaned up last night and I could not be happier!
Mr. Jackman was a great host and not bad on the eyes either...
The tribute to Heath was touching, along with remembering all those who passed this last year...so many great actors.

As you may have noticed or maybe not, my website is going through some changes and should be up and running by the end of the week (fingers crossed)
I received a couple emails this morning asking about the voting links...I'm working this week on getting voting links on the site, but until then I have a couple here on my blog, over on the right hand side.
It's raining here, so it's a perfect day to get my paper work done, have a great Monday...

Beads, Survivor and Oscar time...

I just stocked my Esty store with new goodies...so when you get a chance you can check them out here.

Is anyone watching Survivor? Last night as we were watching the intro we see the funniest looking animal (right after the intro to Joe) I say "what is that!" Kurt says "that's a Capybara, I think?" So I grab the laptop and look up Capybara....nope it's not a Capybara...
That sent Kurt on a mission, he had to know what that funny looking thing was...he found it!
It is a Tapir...what a funny looking animal!

Is everyone looking forward to Oscar night?! We don't usually watch the whole thing, the beginning can be a little boring (except for the red carpet)
But we'll watch the best parts like Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Picture...
Slumdog Millionaire is in good company but...

I'm hoping it walks away with Best Picture! It's my pick!
If you haven't seen it yet, YOU MUST! It's really REALLY good...

Race Day...

Anthony was unable to see the start of the race today (he had class) But I was able to see them come through Oakhurst, very exciting and I was surprised to see how fast they are! You could feel the wind as they went by. My pictures didn't turn out very well, so I was happy that Kurt was able to shoot some pictures when the racers were about 15 miles from the finish line. All the photos are by Kurt...he even got one of Lance, about half of him at least! Click on pictures for close ups.

In the above photo you can see Lance on the far right, yellow helmet with half of his face...

Last but not least...he crashed earlier in the day (bloody leg)
It turned out to be a nice day weather wise...

Lance is coming...

Tomorrow Lance is coming to town. The funny part is that Anthony can see him in Merced at 11:00 am (where stage 4 of the race starts) I can see him as he comes through Oakhurst at 1:30 pm and Kurt can see him in Clovis at 4:00pm (where Kurt's shop is located) where the race ends.
Lets hope for good weather! Good luck Lance!

Black and White with hearts

When is a color picture, black and white? When it's a picture of a zebra...
Anthony just updated his Esty store with a few new photos.

For "Heart" day Kurt wanted to cook me dinner, something he never does! ok, he's the King of the BBQ, but never steps in to "my" kitchen. The menu was beef wellington with risotto (one of my favorites) he wanted to do everything from finding the recipe to shopping to serving...I was even banned from the kitchen...I was surprised to see how well he navigated his way around the kitchen, from the Cuisinart to the oven. Kurt's the guy who can't find the cheese grater on a good day. So how did it turn out? So yummy and perfectly cooked I might add!
Everything turned out so good, I told him he's not foolin me anymore, he can COOK!

I asked him, where did you find the recipe? He said Ramsay! Ha

Coraline?

Sometimes I have to try something new, something I have never tried before...
I just adore Gina's whimsical clay dolls, they remind me of Joan Walsh Auglund's creations. One day I'm going to take a class with Gina, but in the mean time I found Nancye's how-to-make Folk Art Dolls on ebay, so I ordered one...
Here is my first attempt...my inspiration was Coraline. Don't laugh! She kind of looks like Coraline...a little? Complete with her blue boots, blueish black hair with a blue butterfly clip. I also made the funny black cat, but I forgot to take a picture...Ha!

Today I have a few beads...sorry, not that many.
But, the beads I have, will be going on Esty today at 12:00 noon (my time)

Have a Happy Heart Day tomorrow!

Population explosion

There's no building recession going on in these parts...
There are "Fairy Houses" popping up everywhere! Even through the blanket of snow...

I finished up another group of "Hog & Kisses" bracelets and they have been mailed...everyone should be receiving them today, tomorrow at the latest...
I also have been working on some new things that I'll be posting soon!
Have a great day!

I'm lovin' the new design of these crocs...I think I'm just going to have to get myself a pair for Spring. I'm thinking some beads to match as well...

2-D vs. 3-D

My vote is 3-D!
Oh Coraline, you were worth the wait!
Although I'm sure the movie would have been great in 2-D...3-D was magical!
Plus, it's always fun wearing those fun glasses...
I was so excited, I ordered the book this morning. Which I hear is much scarier than the movie.

I also ordered Neil Gaiman's newer one, Graveyard. Which I hear is also being made into a movie. I hope it will be a 3-D.

It was a full weekend with the car show in Sacramento. I made a side trip over to Arrow Springs to pick up some glass I was out of (white) which they were out of too! How can that be? That's like a bakery running out of flour! But I did pick up some new colors, so I'm looking forward to playing with those.
Last night I left Sac a couple hours before Kurt, I hate driving late at night. Plus, I heard a storm was coming in. I made it home just before the snow started falling...
This morning there is a thick blanket of fresh fallen white stuff covering everything...Molly's cuddled up next to the wood stove and I'm thinking it's the perfect day to make a pot of soup, stay in my pj's and do nothing...hope you have a great Monday too!

Day Trip...

Off to drop Kurt's truck off at the Sacramento Autorama (it's going in a stereo booth) Because he is not staying, I volunteered to give him a ride back (he bribed me with stopping by Ikea on the way home) It's been awhile since I've been there and I always seem to find something fun for the studio, I'm always looking for ways to organize my space...plus, I'm hoping they still have these pillows too...
I just may have to stop here for a little sugar rush too :o)

I have a kiln full of beads...so I should have some offerings tomorrow after I clean, sort and photograph them.
Have a great day!

So Simple

I love sales! I was at REI this weekend and found these Simple slippers! They are as cute as can be, but the best part was the price. Reg. $60 (who pays $60 for slippers? Not me!) They were marked down to $32, but then in addition they were taking an extra 50% off sale items. So I walked out with some pretty cool slippers for $16! Not to bad...

If you like sales too...head on over to my Esty store for some Valentine savings!
:o)

Punxsutawney Phil

Happy Ground Hog Day! Phil says we will have 6 more weeks of Winter, which for us in California is a good thing!

Because I'm not a football fan (I do like the commercials though) yesterday we headed out to see a movie. We saw Taken, which was really good, lots of action.
Because of the lack of people out and about we also ventured over to Costco. It was a ghost town!
We were able to get in and out in record time, I wish everyday was like that...

ok, I'm off to unload the kiln...have a nice Monday!
