Whenever I'm in the L.A. area, I always stop by to get my cupcake fix at Sprinkles. And just when you think you've seen it all...something like this pops up! A cupcake ATM! 

It's at their Beverly Hills location, I was at their Newport Beach store so I didn't get to try it out. 

I think it's perfect for those midnight cravings! I WANT ONE for my studio :o)

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Glitterfest on Saturday. It was a fun show!

One of the best things about doing shows, is getting to finally meet people in person...it's nice to put a face with a name.

I have been playing with fine silver (PMC) again...it's been awhile.
I forgot how much fun it is!
If you are not familiar with Precious Metal Clay is a product comprised of very small particles of pure silver suspended in a clay binder. It is then fired in the kiln to burn off the binder, the result is a piece of fine silver (99.9%)

This Saturday I'll be at Glitterfest in Santa Ana, CA from 10-4pm

So if you are in the area, stop by and say hi!

There will be handmade jewelry, sculpture, primitive dolls, paper whimsy and much much more!

Kitchen Gadgets

Kurt is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. He also LOVES pasta (homemade pasta)

Spaetzle

Once in awhile I'll make him spaetzle.

It's kind of a pain and messy. So I don't make it very often.

You make the spaetzle dough and push it through a colander that is placed over boiling water.

A couple weeks ago I found this Spaetzle maker. 

I really didn't think it would work. BUT it works so good!

It's my new favorite kitchen gadget!

Who let the dogs out

I've had a very productive week in the studio!

Lots of beads coming from the kiln, being made into jewelry for an upcoming show.

Weekend plans-

Planting flower baskets (for the porch)

Getting into my bee hives (making sure everything's good)

Washing my car (from the snow last week)

Baking a red velvet birthday cake (yum, red velvet)

Celebrating my dad's birthday (hoping he loves red velvet, too)

Watching the academy awards (who do you think will win?)

Watching Kurt on the Speed channel (see below)

Cleaning the house (productive week in studio = messing house!)

Giving Molly a bath (she smells like a dog, go figure)

Placing a glass order (I need all the basics)

A few months ago while in Vegas for the SEMA car show. Kurt was invited to partake in The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational.

Tomorrow it will air on the Speed Channel.

*Spoiler Alert 

 About half way through the race Kurt broke a supercharger drive belt and finished mid pack. Although he was disappointed, he had a blast!

I found this vintage photo from the 1920's in an antique store.

I just thought it was funny.

I put a hold on taking anymore orders for the Bunny Necklaces, for now.
I'll try and make a few more before Easter though...thanks!

It's coming

It's coming...

Soon bunnies will be hopping through the cabbage patch, some will be crunching on carrots and will be hiding decorated eggs.

Relay For Life Auction

My dear friend, Donella is a breast cancer survivor.

Her and her family are participating in The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life this year to raise money for this worthy cause.

I offered to donate the bracelet above.

100% of all the money raised will go to The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.

 

The bracelet includes 11- lampwork beads, including this little "lavender" Fairy, which is attached with a lobster clasp in case you'd like to hang it on your purse or use it as a zipper pull. Bracelet is 8" inches, but can be sized if needed.

My dad sent me this video of a guy who lives in Santa Barbara, with his pets.

If you are familiar with S.B., there are some "colorful" people who hang out on lower State Street.

Next time I'm in town, I'll be keeping my eye out for these guys...so cute!

Winter finally arrived here last week. With cooler weather, rain, hail and snow in the mountains.

I think the mountains might have enough snow now to go snowshoeing too!

Chocolate buzzz....

For Christmas my sister sent us chocolates...

Not just any chocolates, John and Kira's hand crafted chocolates.

They "were" not only the cutest chocolates I have ever seen, but the salted caramel honey chocolate bees were divine (and I've tasted a lot of chocolates)

What a difference a year makes.

Last year at this time our mountains had lots of snow. This year we are still having nice warm weather (mid 70's) and no snow....or rain for over 60 days now! 

Because we are on well water, we need the rain and snow in the mountains.

This week we have a chance for both (rain & snow)

I'm hoping that rain dance worked.

Kurt: i found these in my shop, are they yours?

Me: OMG!!!! where were they?

Kurt: in my shop...

Kurt: on the shelf above my work bench

Me: i was looking everywhere for those (a few years ago)

Kurt: why were they in my shop?

Me: i was using your grinder to clean up the backs of the typewriter keys...i've looked everywhere in my studio for them, but I could never find them...

I don't even remember what I had in mind for these keys...but my mind is racing now with some fun ideas!
