Decking the halls...

This weekend the elves (mostly me) will be decking the halls...
Trimming the tree, working on some holiday gifts in the workshop, making my Christmas cards. Checking to see who's been naughty or nice and hoping I'll have some extra time to make some of these...
They are so simple, but so cute! She made them this week on her show, but sprinkled them with glass glitter (which I loved)

I'll be putting up beads (right here) all weekend long. I still have lots of Kitties in Mitties, plus some other fun things.

Then this Monday, December 8th I will have the Toys for Tots Beads! So I hope you'll come back for those! ok, I'm off to take some pictures of upcoming beads...

Challenging

~Twilight Auction on ebay~
I am so excited to show you what my friend, Jenn from Cali Girl Art Glass and I have been working on. Awhile ago we decided to do a challenge together, we came up with a theme, which was "Twilight" as we both loved the books! When I received her beads the other day in the mail...I was blown away! I love the beads Jenn made (I love Bella's truck!) We did not see each others beads until we were finished and I was surprised to see how well both our sets went together. I hope you'll like them too! Thanks Jenn, that was fun! Just click on picture to see them upclose.

Playing Possum

~ Playing Possum Necklace~
I was so excited when I found these sterling plated branches, I thought they would go so nicely with my possums! I also added 2-green lampwork leaves to complete the piece.
All the findings are sterling (except the branch, it's plated) I hope you like it too!
Branch is 2" wide...20 inch chain has been antiqued.

Kittens in Mittens

Happy December!
So many fun things are going to be happening over the next couple weeks here...

-I'll be offering goodies right here on this page! Yup, right here. As soon as I have something fun, I'll add it right here, so don't forget to check back often.

-A friend of mine and I did a challenge together. We picked a theme, we both made beads and those will be going on eBay as soon as I can get them photographed (in a day or two)

-Plus, it's that time of year again, Toys for Tots beads! If you are new to this, for the last 4 years I make the beads, you guys bid on them and all the money raised goes to the Toys for Tots! It's a lot of fun!

-For the month of December, shipping is free, my way of saying thank you.

Now for today's goody...
Once in awhile I'll get an email that says, "I know you love dogs, but what about us cat lovers?"
I too LOVE cats! I really do! Did you know that I have one? I do (Tina) She sort of adopted us (it's a long story)
But I too love them...so while making some new things this year for Winter, I thought about The Three Kittens in Mittens story and decided to give it a try...

Moonstones

After Thanksgiving at my dads, we drove up to spend a little time at the beach. One of my favorite things to do is to look for Moonstones at Moonstone Beach. Over the years I have a nice little collection of them. I have heard from the locals that the best time to go hunting for them is after a big storm. Lucky for us, they had a good storm the day before we were there. Look at the size of the ones we found! I felt like I was finding gold nuggets!

The ones on the bottom are average sized. The ones on the top are the ones we found this trip (HUGE)

The male elephant seals are starting to come in now.

Here's a picture of a full grown male. Huge!

Sardines anyone?

Then I "I spyed" Anthony taking pictures...
Who "I Spyed" me taking pictures of him...

Steampunk

This months theme at ABS was "Full Steam Ahead" (Steampunk)
So I headed over to Wikipedia to get some ideas (I have never heard of steampunk)

This is the piece I came up with..."The Hands of Time"
I started with copper sheet metal. Stamped a design into it. I then made a bezel and filled it with found objects...old computer parts, old watch gears and face, vintage typewriter key and porcelain doll arms. Then filled the piece with resin. It was fun trying something so different (at least for me)

I have lots of fun things happening over the next couple weeks.
Another bead artist and I did a challenge together. We picked a theme and we both made beads. So those will be going on ebay (next week)

I have my annual Toys for Tots beads coming up.

Plus, I've been working on some new beads, which I'm excited to show you (next week)

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

5 years in a row...

Every year my mom and I have a little contest, who can grow the largest pumpkin. The winner will receive a homemade pumpkin pie.
Because I never planted a garden this year (she didn't either) I was surprised to see I won, plus I made the cover of this magazine!
I can't wait for my prize!
;o)

In no particular order...

So many movies, so little time...

This weekend, I was able to take one of above off my "must see" list. Although I was a little disappointed, the movie was still good...
I know books are always better than the movies, but it could have been done so much better...Maybe it was their budget? I'm not sure...
I'm off to Costco to pick up everything I need for Thanksgiving. I'm in charge of pies. So I'm thinking of baking a Pecan and of course Pumpkin!

Fire, Smoke, Detours, Lucky

Kurt had a show in L.A. yesterday.
We had to be there by 9am, so we left at 4am and we still were an hour and a half late due to fires!
They had the I-5 and the 405 closed. So we had to take alternative routes in the morning.
Coming home, we got lucky...
As we were getting ready to take the "mandatory" exit for the detour around the closed freeways. The traffic came to a complete crawl (not that unusual in L.A.) but this time the CHP was in the front of the line (pacing)
He stopped his car, got out and picked up the orange cones and 405 was open once again! I feel bad for the people in front of us, they had to take the detour which added a hour and a half to their drive.

Such a Princess

I love all the little things Paper Moon Gallery makes, BUT this one is my favorite!
Meet Princess Molly...I think I'll add a pink rhinestone collar with a little pink glass heart, just like the original Molly wears...

Where did this week go? I've been busy working on some new goodies.
They should be ready early next week. So check back on Monday for the day and time.

I received a couple emails last night, asking about my dad (who lives in Santa Barbara)
He's fine, he's not close to the area that is burning.
Let's hope the Santa Ana winds (80 mph) die down so they can get a handle on it...so sad.
