A Spring Harvest

Harvesting honey wasn't on my to-do list last weekend. But when I peeked inside a couple of the honey supers, I noticed they were full. I ended up getting over 30 pounds of honey... It's amazing how different the "spring" honey tastes compared to last "falls" honey. It's a little lighter in color with a milder flavor. 

I found these cute little tiny honey bottles (2 oz.) last year, so cute!

I still need to make little labels for the bellies of the bear bottles...maybe something like-
"Honey in my Tummy"

And I'm loving this sweet honey container I got for Christmas, no more sticky mess at my house...

Memorial Day

In my little town, all veterans are honored...

A long weekend

 3-day weekend to-do list-

-paint the entry wall (we had rain damage this winter)

-bike ride (molly has a ride along basket now, I'll take a pic)

-weed the garden (warm weather makes them GROW)

-see a movie (not sure which one yet)

-wash windows (tons of yellow pollen)

-give thanks for all who have sacrificed for our country (thank you)  

-cut the hair mats out of the cat (I'm thinking a lion cut?)

-sew some new kitchen curtains from the above beehive fabric (if I can find my sewing machine)

-give molly a bath (not her favorite)

-finish some new beads and night-lights (fun!)

Sleepless in Snakeville

Last night (right before we were heading to bed) Kurt finds a baby snake in the house, YES IN THE HOUSE!!! I hate snakes, no really I HATE SNAKES!!!! 

I made Kurt release the thing FAR AWAY (across the street) I never want to see him/her again!

Needless to say the night was filled with crazy dreams, like GIANT snakes attacking me.

We were over on the coast for the last few days. Kurt was invited to the Truckin' Throwdown in Orange County. Then we headed up the coast for a little R&R. I forgot my camera, so took a couple shots with my phone using Instagram.

I added some new Fairy Gardens today. I'm loving the tiny little creamers I found, so perfect for tiny gardens (don't you think?) I also found a vintage China Painted cup...I L.O.V.E.

The One Crayon Color Challenge

When Sally, from The Studio Sublime put out the One Crayon Color Challenge, I jumped on board!

Everyone got to pick ONE COLOR and the HUES FROM THAT COLOR.

I picked the color BLUE.

Here is what I created... 

I started by making one of my Tide Pool Pendants with a lampwork starfish in tones in blue, added blue dyed coral, blue mat glass beads, beach pebbles and a touch of blue wire ribbon.

Swarmed

 A couple weeks ago I noticed my green hive was bursting at the seams with bees!

This weekend I was going to split the hive, but yesterday the hive swarmed...Luckily they swarmed into the tree above the hive, so I was able to catch them. I spent most of yesterday building bee boxes and frames for another hive. This weekend I'll paint the new hive (I'm thinking blue/periwinkle)

Come back tomorrow for the reveal of The One Crayon Color Challenge...I picked blue.

Then Monday I'll have some new things (Fairy Gardens & Night Lights)
