In Wonderland

I wanted to share a bookmark that Caroline from the U.K. made for her god daughter in Australia. She got the mushroom awhile back and just ordered the bunny & teacup to complete the piece. I love the little pocket watch at the bottom, so whimsical...perfect timing with the movie being out right now too.

Tomorrow I'll tell you all about the new Design of the Month!
It's going to be a little different this month.
I can't wait...

But right now I'm off to move my succulents off the back deck, it's snowing here! Crazy weather...two days ago it was in the mid 70's, now today it's snowing.

LOST DOG

Yesterday while driving home, I found a lost dog running in the middle of the road.
Stopped, brought him home, gave him a dry (it's raining here) place to sleep, water, food, took his picture, printed out posters, drove around late last night posting them EVERYWHERE.
Now I just hope someone calls. He really is the sweetest dog...

Finders Keepers

piglet 068

This weekend I was going through some drawers, cleaning out...I found some small things that were not worthy of throwing away, but not really worthy of keeping either. Then I thought about the geocaching box Anthony & Maureen have. These things would be perfect for that. Which made me curious to know what kind of things people were leaving...so I ventured out to poke around...and that's when I found this cute little tiny pewter Piglet. The rules of geocaching are if you take something, you should leave something too. So I took Piglet and I'm going back to leave a baggies of goodies in it's place.
Anthony put a disposable camera in his cache, for people to take there picture when they found it. I was going to get it developed if it was full, but the camera was gone (note to Anthony: Did you take it? I hope so)

I'm MAD

I'm mad for Mad Men!
I didn't know this until we finished the last disk (season 2) in our NetFlix queue and season 3 was not yet released. Today season 3 was released and was delivered and it's in my hands right now. I'm ready to get a drunk just from watching how much everyone drinks in the show, it's crazy! And I swear my clothes smell like smoke after we watch an episode. But I love it!
They even have Mad Men dolls!

Now that's funny!
Are you mad for Mad Men too? Tonight my house, don't be late!

Weekend projects

mollyfish 036 (600 x 450)

This weekend we finished our painting projects. Kurt worked on the entryway. On a ladder 25 feet off the ground. I'm afraid of heights so I could not watch.
So I tackled the kitchen, which is now a nice fresh shade of Granny Smith Apple Green. Makes me crave an apple every time I go into the kitchen now...

Oh, the picture above? What does it have to do with painting? Absolutely nothing!
Molly "finally" updated her blog.

Ideas Revisited

Last week while going through old photos of beads, I found a set of beads I made for ebay years ago called, "Secret Garden Windows"

This week I decided to revisit the idea and I came up with this necklace.

website 2242 (400 x 716)

Very Spring looking, don't you think.
And yes, it is available on my site, along with a few other new things.

Happy Spring (tomorrow)

Almond Blossoms

This months challenge on ABS is Almond Blossoms by Vincent van Gogh.
Here is what I came up with...

ABS Challenge (March)

ABS Challenge (March)

A mix of blues, browns with Almond blossoms. I also added a little rabbit (for a little whimsy)

I've got a fever

I came down with a fever. A bad fever. Spring fever.

garden2010 009 (601 x 451)

The temps this week are in the low 70's. Need I say more?

garden2010 004 (601 x 519)

Green leaves are popping out on woody branches.
I'm loving the longer days, still adjusting to the early mornings though.

garden2010 011 (601 x 451)

Wild bees cover the rosemary. Everything is starting to wake up. Except for Rosie (my box turtle) She is sleeping in. My vegetable & flower seeds arrived in the mail, so I've be getting my garden boxes ready to plant. I want to make sure my bees will be happy with a nice variety of yummy blooms. I tell ya, I've got the fever...

garden2010 007 (601 x 451)

My roses have lots of new growth, soon they will be covered in pink blooms.

garden2010 019 (601 x 451)

I Love purple pansies...
Do you have "the fever" too?

I'll be making corned beef and cabbage for dinner tonight. I'm going to try ours Bobby Flay style.
Have a Happy St. Patty's Day!

It's going to be a busy weekend here. I'm painting walls (entry & kitchen) Cleaning up the garden boxes to get ready for planting (I just placed my order for seeds) Assemble my new Adirondack chairs for the porch. And last, but not least...assembling my bee boxes and pick out the spot I'm going to house them.

What are your weekend plans?

The Answer and New Goodies

beekeeping 048 (650 x 488)

beekeeping 051 (650 x 488)
Here is the answer to yesterday's post. Were you right? This Queen is an Italian queen. You can tell by the darker body color.

As for beads, I have a few things ending today on eBay and I have some fine silver goodies (PMC) going on my website later this week...

The Queenie

beekeeping 043 (350 x 278)

beekeeping 046 (600 x 450)

beekeeping 048 (600 x 450)

beekeeping 051 (600 x 450)

Saturday's beekeeping class was so much fun. So much info too!
We opened bee boxes to see if we could find the queen bees. Each box has between 8,000-10,000 bees inside. So finding her can be hard for a newbie. You have to look close, she has a bigger body and smaller wings. Can you find her? I'll post a pic tomorrow to see if you were correct. Now I just need to decide what kind of queen to get, Carniolan or Italian? Each has it's own pros and cons. I'm starting off with 2-boxes, so I may do one of each.

Today's the day...

And I can't wait!
I've been waiting for months...
Kurt bought tickets for today's showing (iMax/3-D)
And I won't be late for a very important date...

It's a full weekend here, tomorrow I have an all day Beekeeping class. We'll be opening up hives (weather permitting) and learning as much as I can before my bees arrive.
Hope you have a great weekend too!

I'll have some silver goodies next week...

Easter is coming...

website 2142 (400 x 188)

Easter will be here very very soon.
I think this set of beads would make a great bracelet, very Springy.
Although my poll above has my website in 1st place on where you'd like to find my goodies. I promised a couple people weeks ago that I'd put some new things on Ebay. So that is what I did today. Everything starts at $.99 and will end on Tuesday March 9th. I hope you find something you like...
I also have some new Fine Silver (PMC) things, those will be going on my site next week.

snow2010 038 (600 x 450)

snow2010 045 (600 x 450)

Last night we had a light dusting of white stuff...very pretty.
Not happy it folded over all my daffodils though.
Hard to believe Spring will be here in two weeks.

Inquiring Minds

I had good intentions when I made my New Years resolutions this year. Although I've been doing pretty well with most of them, I have failed in one,
#4-To have beads available in all three places I offer them, my website, my Etsy store and on Ebay.
Although I think I've been doing pretty well on my site, so so on Etsy, I've done horrible on Ebay. With only one auction and it's already March.
But I'm not giving up, yet.

My question is:
If you could pick only one (1) place to see my beads/goodies, where would you like to see them?

Design of the Month

designofthemonth 429 (600 x 491)

I am READY for Spring!
I'm looking forward to planting my veggie garden, becoming a beekeeper and watching the wild bunnies in the yard.
I just listed the new design of the Month here. Very Springy...

Birthday Getaway

We just got back from a little getaway to the coast.
While there, we had a little excitement...
Around midnight, we heard a loud noise and saw a bright light. We thought it was thunder and lightning...but in the morning we woke to this...

Apparently the water main broke and washed out the road. And the noise? It was from the power pole snapping in half, blowing the transformer. Thankfully there was no house where the pipe broke, as it washed out the hill side...

Saturday we drove down to my dad's house to celebrate his birthday. This year, I made a couple of his gifts. I made him some healthy frozen meals (Diabetic) that I thought he might enjoy. Sesame Orange Beef, Hearty Beef Chili, Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole, Pineapple Chicken Stir-Fry, Hungarian Goulash and a batch of those Multigrain English Muffins.

dadbirthday 004 (600 x 450)

I also made him a Hypertufa, like the ones I made last summer, filled with Springy succulents.

dadbirthday 019 (600 x 727)

dadbirthday 016 (600 x 541)

I'll be back in a bit with the new Design of the Month for March.
